Wishing You All Happy Holidays!

I hope you all enjoyed Christmas with your loved ones.  How was it for you? Did you get right into it after Thanksgiving? OR prior to? What did you get? This year was a little harder for me to get into the spirit of Christmas, especially after Ella’s passing.

Here is my December in a nutshell:

The Saturday after Thanksgiving we put the tree and all of the decorations up. My amazing sweet husband had lights put on the house that Monday and it felt more and more like Christmas.

First Weekend in December:

My awesomely generous boss took my husband and me along with the rest of her direct reports to Canlis for an out of this world Holiday dinner.  Such an amazing evening, if you ever visit Seattle and get a chance to dine at this iconic restaurant, do it!

That same weekend my friends and I did our now annual tradition, our Progressive Dinner Party.  We had Cocktails and appetizers at our house, I also put together a Brine Bar (loose herbs & spices) each person was given a recipe and a mason jar and they assembled their brine, and took it home to use for their holiday dinners, which was a total hit (I didn’t take one single photo of it, uggh it was so pretty too.. someday, I will learn.. ) I also made everyone a little decoration for their Christmas trees.  I know, overachiever… I can’t help it, I love doing nice, fun things for my friends and family, this also helped me get into the spirit of the holidays.  After our house, we went over to our other friends’ house, which was AMAZING… The decor, the food, the company, I have some amazing friends, I love our group of friends, I can’t say it enough how I appreciate these people.

The next weekend, my husband and I did our annual overnight shopping trip in Downtown Bellevue, we stay at The Westin or The W, it’s been The W for the past couple of years.  We have a nice dinner at Ruth’s Chris, put a couple bourbons in him and then we go visit our good friend and Stylist at Nordstrom, she pulls from both the girls wish lists and we pick what we want to get them and maybe a couple things for myself ;).  My husband loves it, he doesn’t stress and we go back to the hotel and watch a movie.  Party animals I know..

The first two weeks of the month totally flew by! It’s crazy… but fun my youngest headed to the Eastcoast on the 22nd to visit her dad for Christmas, not my favorite thing, but she needed to spend time with her dad and two little brothers… I’m just being selfish…

Christmas Cookies! I went on a bit of a baking tangent… I made, crack crackers, white chocolate macadamia nut, double chocolate walnut, peanut butter blossoms rolled in shimmering champagne sugar, classic sugar cookies frosted with cream cheese frosting and white chocolate confetti cake truffles.  I think I’m done… though I’m eyeing a champagne cupcake recipe… damn you Pinterest! 🙂

Sunday Night Football! Seattle Seahawks!!!!!!! We won, that was an absolutely fun night we had with our friends and fireworks after for the win! I loved celebrating the win and playoff berth with all of our favorite people.

Christmas Eve, we made an amazing HUGE prime rib roast, twice baked potatoes, gorgeous asparagus, and a Caesar salad with mom’s homemade apple pie for dessert. We had my sister, her husband, my mama, my oldest daughter, and her fiance.  Beautiful dinner with my family, it couldn’t have been any better… well – I wish we could have fit more food in our stomaches LOL – it was all so good, but the best part is we had leftovers!

We took photos… of the food and the animals of course LOL!

Christmas Day! Not only is it Christmas Day, but it’s also my Oldest Daughter’s BIRTHDAY! This is what makes this time of year so special to me, to the whole family. Oh and she hates this photo lol

We had so much fun exchanging gifts, my AMAZING HUSBAND gave me a gorgeous Celine Bag and boy is she is BEAUTIFUL! Thank you again so much you don’t even know how happy I am @stephenschnell 😉 and Surprise surprise… of course I took a photo of her!

To close the night out, our friends came over that evening and we had the most amazing french dip.  My sweet mama and I made the Auju Sauce, it was soooooo good.

All in all, I had a fabulous holiday, life is good, we ate A LOT… SHOPPED A LOT… but also LOVED A LOT.  Even without all of the gifts, I was happy to have my mom, husband, daughter, my sis and her husband, two pups and kitty and of course my amazing group of friends.  I love them all and appreciate them so very much.  I feel so lucky and I can’t say it enough, how grateful I truly am.

Happy Holidays from The Savvy Assistant!
